CT OPTIMIZATION
While hospitals are buying the latest and greatest technology, the question remains whether they’re truly leveraging their investments.
Are you providing the highest quality care to your patients? Are you operating efficiently?
The imaging market has and will continue to demonstrate robust and dynamic growth from both a technological and clinical standpoint. The market drivers have created new challenges, opportunities and considerations for stakeholders. The
RCG CT Optimization Service combines the experience, resources, and reach of three leading organizations in the imaging sector (RCG, Massachusetts General Hospital, and Bracco Diagnostics). Because of the depth of expertise, we can offer innovative and real-world solutions to customers.
The RCG CT Optimization Service offers a menu of product options designed to:
- Improve Patient Safety
- Improve Image Quality
- Optimize Contrast Media Use
- Reduce Radiation Dose
- Increase Modality Efficiencies
- Increase CT ReferralS
We are currently in the pilot phase of the service, where we are evaluating various training and support methods to assist institutions in optimizing the application of their CT Protocols and scanners. We plan to begin offering this service in Spring 2007
Detailed Information on the services provided as part of the RCG CT Optimization Pilot Program:

This survey serves as the entrance into the
RCG CT Optimization Service. Fill out the survey, attach some additional documents, and send it into our experts. Your responses are kept confidential and reviewed by our clinical and operational experts who will identify key areas for improvement and recommend a custom solution for your institution.
Web-based Access to Scanning Protocols
The
RCG CT Optimization Service web portal houses a dynamic repository of scanning protocols for 16-and 64-slice CT scanners. Protocols for GE and Siemens scanners are currently available. Scanning protocols for 16-and 64-slice Phillips and Toshiba scanners will be available in the coming months.
The protocols on the website were developed and vetted at Massachusetts General Hospital, and were specifically formatted for ease of use. Protocols are color-coded to the relevant body area, and you can search the protocols by using our man, woman, and pediatric models. You can also search for a specific scanning protocol by entering the body part or indication into the search field.
Scanning protocols are regularly updated. If you subscribe to the service, you will be notified when updates are made to the protocols; changes are also noted on the home page of the portal.
Protocols are also specially formatted for printing so that it is easy to have hardcopies right at the scanner for use by technologists.
On-site Protocol Implementation and Technologist Training
Organizations often need help manually loading the protocols. The
RCG CT Optimization Services team can help you load the protocols, and additionally train your staff to handle loading additional protocols and updates.
Adverse Event, IV Contrast, and Radiation Information
In this section, we have information on screening, administration, and follow-up for contrast, a section of downloadable forms that can be used in your practice, and a conversion table for contrast use.
